Evolution of Arm & Hammer

Evolution of Arm & Hammer

Arm & Hammer has made many changes to extend its product life cycle. The product was originally created for baking. Consumers started to use the product for other household tasks. Once the company realized its product could be used for more than baking, they began to advertise the product’s different uses. The company discovered that their product could be used for cleaning as well. Consumers raved about the results they received from using the product. It became clear that it was time for Arm & Hammer to add more products to their collection.

As the years went on, the company developed more products to help their consumers. In 1970, Arm & Hammer introduced their first refrigerator deodorizer. This was made specifically for odor control. In 1972, they released their Arm & Hammer toothpaste. The company capitalized on baking soda’s ability to clean and whiten teeth. In the 1980s, they introduced a laundry detergent. Around that same time, they also released a kitty litter that was made with baking soda as well. The evolution of this company is absolutely fascinating.
